Precise Surveys from a Permanent Staff

As in any other professional work, the quality of surveying services is largely dependent upon the calibre of our personnel. Our strong nucleus of knowledgeable and seasoned staff includes 5 licensed Ontario land surveyors, 35 survey technologists and technicians, and 10 administrative and support personnel.

Knowledge & Technology for Cost-Effective Surveys

AOV has actively endeavored to maintain a continual policy of adaptation and improvement to remain at the forefront of technology utilization. All field crews are equipped with Trimble® total stations, and all data is collected and uploaded electronically. Global positioning satellite technology is utilized as a cost-effective tool for obtaining digital information on numerous projects, including control, legal and topographic surveys. Strictly regimented field procedures and the automated processing of data ensure product quality and accuracy.

The analysis and verification of all data is completed by our experienced team of technical and professional staff within the office environment. AOV has also kept up with evolving industry standards by ensuring that all technical and professional personnel are fully conversant in AutoCAD®, MicroStation, MicroSurvey® and a wide variety of Microsoft products. As such, all calculations, plan preparation and data analysis are completed within the current software and technological environment.

Our Survey Projects in Eastern Ontario & Beyond

Using a combination of GPS and total station technology, we have completed several large survey projects, which include:

• Digital terrain modelling (DTM) survey of airport land on a Caribbean island
• Surveys for the layout of several 18-hole golf courses, storm retention ponds & golf course subdivisions
• Survey of over 40 km of railway track at Walkley Yard in south Ottawa, CNR’s marshalling yard
• Survey of portions of CNR's Alexandria line between Ottawa & the Quebec border
• Communication tower surveys for cellular phone companies throughout the Ottawa Valley, including site boundary surveys & geodetic co-ordinates on the tower sites
• Surveys of First Nations land in the James Bay area, including lagoon & subdivision surveys
• Digital mapping of numerous areas of Ontario for the Province of Ontario Land Registration Information System
• (POLARIS) – 1990s to the present
